Constance Moofushi Maldives proudly celebrated Maldivian Independence Day on 26th July 2025 with a meaningful two-day event dedicated to the archipelago’s rich culture, craftsmanship, and culinary heritage. Set against the resort’s serene, unspoiled shores, the gathering honoured the traditions of the Maldives and the women whose artistry and devotion continue to shape the nation's cultural identity.

The celebration highlighted Constance Moofushi’s commitment to redefining authentic luxury through experiences that inspire, connect, and uplift. This year’s programme featured two influential cultural figures: award-winning culinary expert Chef Juweyria Wajdhee and renowned artisan Hafsa Husny, both of whom exemplify the resort’s dedication to preserving and promoting Maldivian heritage.

Day 1 – 26th July 2025: Maldivian Culinary Showcase
The celebration began with a live cooking experience led by Chef Juweyria Wajdhee, who is widely recognised for her efforts in preserving Maldivian gastronomy. A Rehendhi Award recipient and published author, Chef Juwey has influenced over 12,000 women and aspiring chefs through her work, offering a powerful tribute to traditional recipes passed down through generations.

Day 2 – 27th July 2025: Cultural Craft Experience – Kasab Weaving Class
On the second day, guests were invited to explore the intricate art of Kasabu Boavalhu embroidery in a hands-on weaving session led by Hafsa Husny, a master craftswoman dedicated to reviving traditional textile techniques. Husny’s work has been instrumental in empowering women and preserving craft heritage across the islands.

Chef Juwey and Hafsa Husny, lifelong friends and cultural custodians, have long championed the safeguarding and celebration of Maldivian heritage. Their collaboration at Constance Moofushi reflected the strength, creativity, and resilience of Maldivian women, enriching the celebration with authenticity and meaning.
