Royal Jordanian to commence scheduled charter service to Maldives

Royal Jordanian, the national carrier of Jordan is scheduled to commence a charter service to Maldives with its first flight arriving ‪on 28th September 2019‬. The charter operation will continue through October and will be offering nonstop service between Queen Alia International Airport in Amman and Velana International Airport in Male.
 
According to February 2019 press release, RJ will be operating‪ Boeing 787-8 aircraft this route. ‬
 
According to Maldives Tourism Ministry, there is a 19.7% increase in the number of travelers from the Middle East who visited in the first six months of 2019 when compared with the same period in 2018. The arrivals from Middle East were 27,679 from January to June 2019 and this represents an increase of 19.7% when compared with 2018, which welcomed 23,130.
 
Founded in 1963, Royal Jordanian is based at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan and operates an extensive network throughout the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. In 2007, Royal Jordanian was partially privatised, a rarity in the Middle East among flag carriers. The carrier also joined the oneworld alliance in the same year. The Jordanian Government owns a majority stake in the airline.
