Adaaran Resorts was awarded the prestigious Travelife GOLD Certification 2019, for the second consecutive time.

The Travelife Certification is an international sustainability certification programme recognized globally and acknowledged for their prominent approach in environment conservation policies. Their vision strongly weighs on the policy of "leave nothing but your footprint."

Travelife presents this certification upon fulfilling standards recognized by Travelifes Global Sustainable Tourism Council.

To be awarded with this highly acclaimed certification, a resort must meet 163 sustainability criterion. Points are awarded based on how the resort deals with critical aspects such as waste management, consumption of energy, water and chemicals, employee welfare, protection of wildlife and the local community. The Travelife sustainability structure offers members with a functional outline to help them advance further and uplift their business entities.

Embracing an eco-friendly approach as a business is nothing new for Adaaran, it is simply the conventional way of operating their resorts. Adaaran Resorts honour the Adaaran Sustainability Policy where they endeavour to maintain a high level of environmental consciousness through strategizing and executing suitable eco-sustainability practices.

Sustainability awareness efforts involve educating employees and guests on the sustainable policy, Travelife training programs for staff, display of sustainability related messages on notice boards and awareness via social media.

Amongst many sustainable initiatives, the installation of a Bottle Plant helped terminate the use of single-use plastic water bottles altogether. At Adaaran, guests are offered only paper straws on request, thus alleviating the use of plastic straws as well.

Good hygiene is practiced at Adaaran Resorts at all times. No harmful chemicals are utilized other than biodegradable ones. Such practices have been derived from Adaarans compliance with their company-wide 7R practice which consists of Reject, Reduce, Reuse, Reclaim, Repair, Replace, and Recycle.

The resorts have implemented several measures to keep up with industry best practices and global sustainability trends. One of the measures taken is to operate an energy saving system in all rooms, by the use of a key card to activate the electricity in the room. A program is currently underway, to replace light bulbs with energy-efficient LED lamps in all rooms, public areas and gardens. Guest rooms are installed with inverter type air conditioners. The resorts organize projects on island cleaning, tree planting, environmental awareness and coral transplanting.

Adaaran Resorts is unswerving in its vision of creating an environment for the staff to achieve their career aspirations while cultivating a team of knowledgeable and inspiring professionals.

Every effort taken to strive towards sustainable efficiency and the tremendous contribution made towards environmental awareness by Adaaran Resorts were recognized by the global tourism industrys most credible sustainability accolade.

Another recent noteworthy achievement is the naming of its new luxury brand, Heritance Aarah as a recipient of the LEED certification, making the luxury property the first in the Maldives to ever receive one. LEED which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is denoted as a green building rating system used widely around the world.

Adaaran Resorts first embarked on their sustainability journey by pledging to strive and practice their promise of preserving the environment. Standing firmly with this vision, Adaarans management team marked this iconic moment by diving and placing their signatures underwater! This endorsement process was called the Adaaran Green Dive 2016.

Adaaran Green Dive was initiated with hope to shed light on the current issue of climate change and its impact on the islands of Maldives. As Maldives constitutes of 1% land and 99% water, it only seemed fitting to mark the occasion in this manner.
