Sri Lanka joins India International Mega Trade Fair in Kolkata

Sri Lanka has participated in the India International Mega Trade Fair (IIMTF) held at Science City, Kolkata, West Bengal from 13th to 23rd December 2019.

During the participation, Sri Lanka promoted a range of value-added items including herbal personal care products, craft products, value added coconut products, value added handmade stoneware, floral arrangements, green vanilla, lace and embroidery items, spices, electronic security solutions.

Sri Lankas national participation was organised by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi in association with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.

Sri Lanka was represented at the India International Mega Trade Fair in Kolkata, West Bengal by Sri Lanka Export Development Board together with eight Sri Lankan companies: Swadeshi Industries Works PLC, Darshana Global Enterprises Ltd., Isuru Ceramic Export, Greens Flower Design Ltd., Natural Vanilla Ltd., K and D Lace Creation, Bimsara Import & Export and R N Innovations, displaying value added gift, spices and security solutions from Sri Lanka. This was the first time that Sri Lanka participated in this International Exhibition.  

Besides Sri Lankas participation at the IIMTF in Kolkata, the High Commission of Sri Lanka organised two business interactive sessions on Doing Business with Sri Lanka, followed by B2B meetings for the visiting Sri Lanka delegation, with members of the Bharat Chamber of Commerce, FIEO, Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Confederation of West Bengal Trade Association. Over 30 participants attended the business interactive sessions.

The India International Mega Trade Fair in Kolkata organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and G.S. Marketing Associates, supported by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, is a leading fair in India in terms of quality and business generated. The fair focuses on innovative ideas in Lifestyle, Handicrafts and Handlooms, Electronics, Interiors, International products, Food, Automobile, Education and IT, MSME, Jute Products, Tourism, etc. The visitors included industry experts, professionals, buyers, distributors, wholesalers, agents, international houses, etc.

The exhibition was attended by a total of 1,500 local and international exhibitors. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Thailand, Nepal and Sri Lanka were among the countries that participated in this event.
