Adaaran Concludes 78th Atiken Spence Management Training Programme

Adaaran Resorts Maldives, part of the leading Sri Lankan hospitality chain, Aitken Spence Hotels, completed its ninth Management Training Programme (MTP). A group of 21 Executives and Managers from several Adaaran Resorts were given training on building exceptional skills and organisational value to become well-rounded leaders in the increasingly competitive and ever-changing industry of tourism. 


Held from 14-18 August at Addaran Select Huduran Fushi, the programme was conducted by Aitken Spence PLC Group Human Resource team and said to have been the 78th successful MTP for the Sri Lankan blue-chip conglomerate.


The Aitken Spence MTP is a signature five-day (64 hours) executive development programme based on the philosophy of managing scientifically with respect to humanity. The signature programme also considered as the License to Manage at Aitken Spence, is based on the MTP course developed by the Japan Industrial Training Association. Due to its holistic approach, this is now considered a compulsory programme for all Aitken Spence employees who are looking to further their careers within the Group.  


The programme consists of 17 segments where participants are trained and evaluated on various levels of management decisions, ranging from basic management styles and leadership to improving work and understanding human behaviour. The programme is designed to cater to all those from all walks of life and incorporates role play, case studies, individual assignments, group work and interactive learning.     


The conclusion of the programme was marked by a colourful event-cultural and talent performances along with an awards ceremony. 


The function was attended by the Senior Management of the Adaaran Resorts chain including, Aitken Spence Hotel Management Chief Operation Officer - Maldives Sector Badhiya Gunatilake, Assistant Vice President of Administration Mohamed Mahdy, Director - Service & Product Development Hemantha Ratnayake and Manager - COO Office Joe Bernard. The resource personnel from Aitken Spence, Deputy General Manager - Human Resources Development Chathuskka Seneviratne, Manager - Employee Relations Ishara Wickramathilake, and Senior Assistant Manager - Learning & Development Dinesh Muthuthantrige, were also in attendance.


Benchmark training and development initiatives have been an integral part of the Adaaran resort chain, having been recognised for operating a hotel school in 2010 to educate and train young Maldivians. Some of their other recognised programmes include The Adaaran Kurimagu Management Training Programme & Executive Development Programme, Apprentice programmes in Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and the Adaaran Cross Exposure programme.
