Test Flights to Land in Maafaru International Airport Next Week

Regional Airports has announced that test flights will land next week in Noonu Maafaru Airport which is being built by United Arab Emirates Fund.


According to Regional Airports Director General Saamy Agil, development of the runway of the airport is coming to a completion and they are working on designing the signs which will be used in the runway. 


He further added that the development of runway is fully completed and that they are trying to operate test flights in next week.


Maafaru Airport is designed with a transit hotel and to develop a resort. While all the latest technology will be available at the airport, six jets can be operated at the same time.


The project which has been funded with USD 60 million from the UAE fund will accommodate Airbus A320s and Boeing 737s. The runway at MIA is 2,200 metres long.
