MasterChef has been launched in the Maldives by Public
Service Media (PSM) following a deal with Endemol Shine, responsible for
numerous productions.
Managing Director of PSM, Ali Khalid said, "There is a
tremendous array of culinary talent here in the Maldives and we are excited to
see how these inspired, youthful, amateur chefs fare with the television
audience. MasterChef is renowned for its excellent ratings and we are delighted
to have this long-running global hit franchise on our network."
The twenty-episode series is set to commence during
September 2020. With the newly launched production, Maldives will become the
63rd country to produce a local version of the popular format.
During the launching ceremony held last night, all sponsors
including the title sponsor - Dhiraagu, STO, Villa College, and Bank of
Maldives signed the sponsorship agreement for the first season of MasterChef Maldives.
Various individuals and organizations in the Maldives' food and beverage industry attended the ceremony, including Endemol Shine's Regional Director to the Asian region, Rashmi Bajpai.
MasterChef is a No.1 rated show from the UK to Australia,
France to Israel, Italy to the Middle East and beyond, and this televisions
toughest talent series has become a global hit. Now produced in over 50
countries worldwide and broadcast in over 200 territories, MasterChef is
watched globally by over 250 million viewers and has transformed over 100
amateur chefs into professionals.
The success of MasterChef is down to its highly adaptable
format that taps into a global appetite for watching everyday people fulfill
their dreams of achieving something extraordinary.
