Gulf Air to Start Flights to the Maldives

The Bahrain based flagship carrier, Gulf Air, is set to begin flight operations to the Maldives in later during this year, 2019.

The statement was made by Mr. Abdulrahman Mohamed Al-Gaoud, Ambassador-Designate of Bahrain to the Maldives during the Maldives Partnership Forum 2019. Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL) also revealed that they had discussions with Gulf Air back in 2017 to start operating its flights to Indian Ocean holiday destinations.

The number of tourists who visited the Maldives from Middle Eastern countries well exceeded 52K, which is a 5.9% increase from the 49K+ in 2017. The growth is estimated to continue this year as well, seeinh as arrivals from the Middle East was at 16.7% growth I the first four month of the year, which reached 19K+ from the 16K+ in the same period of last year.
