The ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has revealed that the ongoing work of Kulhudhuffushi Airport will be done soon, and that the airport can start to function starting the coming July.

State Minister for the Ministry of Transport, Mohamed Zuhair has revealed that the work was wrapping up at a great speed. Construction of the terminal works are underway as of now, therefore according to Zuhair operations would begin as soon as coming July.

A 1200 meter long and 30 meter wide runway has been constructed at the airport. Even though the airport was officially opened last year, operations had to be halted due to the lack of basic necessities.

The construction of an airport in the island was a presidential pledge of former President, Abdulla Yameen.
