STOs subsidiary Maldives State Shipping Ltd (MSS) has brought in their very first vessel with Cargo to Maldives.

The first vessel named MV Iberian Express was greeted with a water salute in Male Cargo Harbour Area at the time of its arrival. A ceremony was held not long after to commemorate the start of MSSs services in which Managing Director of MSS Abdulla Saeed, Managing Director of State Trading Organisation (STO) Hussain Amir, and senior officials of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and Maldives Customs Services attended.

During the ceremony, Managing Director and CEO of State Trading Organization (STO) Hussain Amru Mohamed Rashaad said,"This is an important step in the development of the country, for the economic sovereignty, to fulfil the needs of the public and the country."

Maldives State Shipping (MSS) is a new shipping and logistics company launched in 2020 offering an extensive international liner shipping service.

MSS aims to overcome the difficulties Maldivian traders and other businesses faced in the absence of a reliable national shipping line and to provide employment opportunities for Maldivians in an industry other than tourism.

MSS is owned by State Trading Organization plc. (STO), the most reliable public company in the nation. STO has been in operation for over 50 years with many thriving subsidiaries, joint ventures and associates under its umbrella.
