Ooredoo Maldives launches Wifi Calling

For the first time in Maldives, Ooredoo has launched "WiFi Calling" (Voice over Wi-Fi or VoWiFi), which will give crystal clear voice experience when connected onto a Wi-Fi network.

The company launched the service at Ooredoo Color Run Music Show, in the presence of Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Honourable Maleeh Jamal and the Chief Executive of Communication Authority of Maldives, Mr. Ilyas Ahmed.

To meet the evolving needs of its customers, Ooredoo Maldives continues to introduce new services, enabling everyone on the Ooredoo network to enjoy a great experience. WiFi Calling (VoWiFi) is a technology that enables users to make/receive calls over a Wi-Fi Network, in areas where range is not available and when phone is on flight-mode.

To use the service, customers should must install the latest carrier update on their phone. iPhone users will need to have iOS version 13.2 or above installed on the phone, while Huawei users will require the latest Android update as well. WiFi Calling is available only for customers with an Ooredoo 4G SIM, and an activated VoLTE service. This can be easily activated by dialling *928*6*8#.
