Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has decided to organize a conference titled Maldives Travel Conference 2024 Women's Edition to empower women in the tourism sector.

The conference is being held in collaboration with Jen Maldives by Shangri-La and has been endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Women in Management (WIM), Women on Boards and Women Entrepreneurs Association - Maldives (WEAM).

MATATO said the conference received a good response from the Ministry of Tourism. As such, the Association has met with Minister of State Dr.. Abdulla Niyaz and Deputy Minister Aishath Shimani and discussed ways to work towards promoting women's participation and leadership in the tourism industry.

According to MATATO, industry leaders, policymakers and prominent women from the tourism sector will participate in the Maldives Travel Conference Women's Edition. Panel discussions and networking opportunities will also be held at the conference, the Association said.
