VIA adds 14 additional counters to International Passenger Terminal

Due to the high number of tourist arrivals with the increase in resorts in the past years, Velana International Airport (VIA) has added 14 additional counters at the International Passenger Terminal.

They were officially opened at a special ceremony on the 10th of April 2019 by Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed, who was accompanied by Acting Manager Director of VIA Moosa Solih.

Addressing the ceremony, Acting Manager Director Moosa Solih said that the new counters were built in efforts to expad the international Passenger Terminal. He quotes, "We opened these [counters] to ease the current load. It is estimated that the international passengers will increase seven fold within the next year."

Including the existing ones, the new total number of counters which is operated at the international terminal has now reached 42.
