Local tour company Secret Paradise held an 'Inspiration Day' for 40 children from Fiyavathi, Hulhumale this weekend. The day was designed to be educational as well as fun and took place at The Marina at Crossroads. The children visited the Discovery Centre, Marine Centre, enjoyed lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe and participated in beach games.

The Inspiration Project is one of the core projects of Secret Paradise's UK travel partner Exodus Travel and is funded by the Exodus Travels Foundation enabling them and their in-destination partners, such as Secret Paradise, the opportunity to give back to the communities in which  their guests travel. Both Secret Paradise and Exodus believe that all children should have the chance to see, experience and learn about their own natural environment and cultural heritage.

Co-Founder and Director, Ms Ruth Franklin advised that 'The event was a great success and we hope this will be just the first of a number of 'Inspirational Days'. The event was supported by a number of Secret Paradise's tourism and business partners including DivePoint Guraidhoo and Guraidhoo Palm Inn, Seaholics Hulhumale Watersports, The Maldives Swimming and Life Saving Skills School, Nashee Cakes and The Marina at Crossroads.

Since 2012 Secret Paradise has provided a range of unique guided local island multi tours and day tours. Tours are designed so that guests not only experience the natural beauty and participate in activities commonly associated with the Maldives but that they have the opportunity to learn about its people and culture first hand by travelling with one of their local guides. Responsible and sustainable tourism plays a very large part in their business ethics. They are mindful of ensuring local tourism is promoted in line with Maldivian culture and beliefs and through education of both guests and locals they aim to protect the environment and limit wherever possible any negative impact to local life.
