LUX* South Ari Atoll donates USD 14,000 to Government Children Foster Care Centres

LUX* South Ari Atoll has donated USD 14,000 (MVR 215,880) to children foster care centres under the government.

During a ceremony held at LUX* South Ari Atoll, General Manger at the resort, Jonas Amstad handed over a donation of USD 7000 to Kurakudhinge Hiya in Villimale and another USD 7000 to Fiyavathi shelter in Hulhumale.

The donation was received by Minister Shidhatha Shareef on behalf of the Ministry of Gender and Family.

Addressing at the ceremony, Minister Shidhatha said that the donation will be used to provide a safe and healthy environment for the children at the foster homes and highlighted how such donations from private parties can bring positive changes to the lives of children residing at the centres.

As of now, there are a total of 155 children living under the care of foster homes in Maldives. 107 of these children are under the age of 13 and they reside in Fiyavathi centre, while rest of the children, who are over the age of 13 lives in Kurakudhinge Hiya at Villimale.
