Growth in tourist arrival rates for the month of March at 22 percent

In the light of the latest statistics which have been revealed by the Ministry of Tourism, it seems that there have has been a 22% growth during the month of March of 2019.

During a press conference held at the Tourism Ministry, Minister Ali Waheed revealed that the sector grew by 6.5% in January, and further added that during the month of March the growth rate was at an astonishing 22%. Compared to the same period last year, this is a 15% growth.

In reference to the figures, it has shown that the number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives stands at 482,978. And according the Minister, to reach the target of 1.5 million tourist arrivals will be easily attainable with the current pace of things.

At the same conference, it was also revealed that, while China remains at the number of market for tourist arrivals, there has been a significant growth from markets such as Italy, Germany and India.

Minister Waheed also noted that he believed that making Maldives the top tourist destination in the world is indeed within reach.
