Heritance Aarah, the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified resort in the Maldives has celebrated its international recognition for sustainable initiatives and spectacular culinary experiences.

Located on its own private island Heritance Aarah, in the Raa Atoll is the newest addition to the Aitken Spence Hotels portfolio. From the choices of 82 intimate Luxury Duplex Ocean Suites and Sunset Ocean Villas, 75 Land Villas ranging from Beach Villas, Pool Beach Villas, Family Beach Villas and Family Pool Beach Villas are offered at the island.

PADI licences dive centre along with a host of water sports, a kids club, a tennis court, a fully equipped gymnasium and the first of its kind IASO Medi Spa. The resort also offers guests unique excursions and curated experiences.

Heritance Aarah became the first resort in the Maldives to win LEED Gold certification in September 2019, which is awarded to properties that save energy, water and resources; generate less waste; and support human health.

The design of the resort compliments the policy of sustainability by implementing components such as fuel saving generators, energy saving LED lighting, water saving fixtures and energy efficient air conditioning.

In October 2019, Heritance Aarah was acknowledged for their exceptional cuisines, after becoming the overall Champion at Culinary Art Food Expo 2019 which is organised by Chefs Guild of Lanka alongside World Association of Chefs Societies. The resorts chef team competed alongside the best of international brands in the South Asian region to secure this achievement.

Heritance Aarah won 29 Golds, 11 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. With all the properties combined, Aitken Spence Hotels was awarded a total of 130 medals. This was counted as their second culinary win as they had previously been recognized as the only property to have claimed the most number of awards at the Food & Hospitality Asia Maldives 2019, going against renowned global hospitality chains in the Maldives.

Addressing the success of Heritance Aarah, Ms. Stasshani Jayawardena, Executive Director of Aitken Spence PLC and Chairperson of Aitken Spence Hotels said, "We are honoured that Heritance Aarah has been presented with numerous accolades after just a few months of opening. Aitken Spence Hotels are known for distinction in the culinary field and Heritance Aarahs 11 dining and drinking outlets introduces guests to flavours from across the world.

"Furthermore, our strategies to expand are led by guests expectations and design-led refurbishments to enrich the experience at our properties. A key priority is to ensure our resorts contribute positively to protect and preserve the environment and the ecosystems we operate in so we are proud that Heritance Aarah has been named as the first LEED Gold certified property in the Maldives."
