This year, Alia Investments and the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT) launched an annual training programme for seafarer captains. The training, divided into a series of sessions, focuses on enhancing maritime expertise and safety for seafarers.

Participants will receive technical knowledge about the safety and security of naval vessels, specifically developed for captains. The programme emphasizes the importance of special theory and practical skills, ensuring that captains can operate engine-powered vehicles with dignity and proficiency. Key sessions will cover navigation charts, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures, including how to handle health emergencies and fire incidents on board. Additionally, there will be problem-solving sessions and training on the maintenance of outboard engines.

The training programme, running from August 6 to 8, will host 64 participants from various resorts, sea transport service companies, and government institutions. Alia Investments also inaugurated the Yamaha Technical Training in the Maldives for 2024, in collaboration with Japan's Yamaha Technical Academy. This marks the fifth Yamaha Technical Training held in the Maldives.

Alia has consistently implemented programmes aimed at improving maritime security and professionalism. Designed to meet industry standards, the current programme includes practical training and has received significant support from resorts, seafaring transportation companies, and government institutions.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Alia's launch of the Yamaha outboard engine in the Maldives.
