Brand Ambassadors being gathered to promote the Maldives

The Ministry of Tourism is making attempts in order to get world famous athletes as ambassadors to promote the Maldives in the global tourism industry front. They are working to convince people from different athletic backgrounds, as per the Tourism Minister, Ali Waheed, to be brand ambassadors for the Maldives.

In addition to this, the ministry has plans to sponsor football leagues from which the most tourist arrivals have been recorded from. Already, the Tourism Ministry has sponsored the Under 13 International Cup held in Dubai. The sponsorship fee of the event was 25K dollars. One of the soccer fields where the matches will be held on is named after Maldives, and the jerseys for the players from Soccer School would have Maldives brand logo printed on it.

The government had aimed to attract 2.5 billion tourists per year, by the end of its five-year term. For 2019, they have planned to attract 1.5 billion tourists. In order to make this a reality, the government increased the budget used for marketing the Maldivian tourism industry, and has assured that special activities will be done in order to promote the Maldives.
