Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa organised a clean-up on the
uninhabited picnic island, Araigathaa, in a bid to raise public awareness about
environmental conservation, on 24th November 2019.
Araigathaa is a beautiful little island about 25
minutes by speedboat from Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. The island is often used
for picnics by locals, tourists and safari boats.
A team of 20 associates travelled to Araigathaa with
officials from Parley Maldives. The team collected 170kg of ocean plastics and
marine debris.
Plastic materials were separated on site before being
transported by Parley Maldives to be recycled and redesigned into reusable
products and materials.
"It was a great effort by the team making sure that
these materials did not end up back in the ocean," an announcement by the
resort read.
Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa has been a certified
Parley AIR partner since December 2016. The Parley AIR programme recognises the
urgency in addressing the global threat of marine plastic pollution and is

possible; I Intercept plastic waste; and, R Redesign plastic materials,
products and methods.
