FEDO Pvt Ltd Signs Agreement to Develop a City Hotel at Kelaa Thun’di Area

A lease agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Tourism and local construction company, FEDO Private Limited to develop a city hotel in the island of Kelaa, HA. Atoll.   

Regarded as one of the most beautiful destinations in the Maldives, Kelaa island’s thundi area will be transformed into a luxury style hotel consisting of 200 rooms, which will include overwater villas and beach villas.  

During the project signing event held yesterday, Managing Director of FEDO Pvt Ltd, Ahmed Fayaz signed the agreement of behalf of the company while Ibrahim Faruhad, Senior Policy Director signed on behalf of the Ministry. Attendees at the ceremony include Minister of Tourism, Abdulla Mausoom and the Kelaa Constituency MP Ibrahim Shareef.

Speaking on the scope of the project, Communications Head of FEDO, Anil Adam said 200 rooms will be built in the 864,414 square feet area allocated, to be completed within the given 30-month duration. Starting off with a land survey and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA), the practical work of the project will commence shortly after the finalized blueprints, said Anil.  

He also estimates to begin construction mobilization within the next 2-3 months. The company reveals that the completion of the project will provide 200 job opportunities for the locals in Kelaa region. Further plans for conducting trainings to locals were also disclosed by the company.
