The Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has begun discussions with key stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition to the new terminal at Velana International Airport.
The initiative comes as part of the ongoing airport development project. Today’s meeting, held at the Hull Island Hotel, marked the official launch of consultations for the new terminal’s operation.
Managing Director of MACL, Ibrahim Sharif Mohamed, emphasized the significance of stakeholder cooperation in a smooth handover. “The transfer of operations is a complex undertaking,” he stated, “and the collaboration of all airport service providers is essential for a successful commissioning.”
Special committees will be formed, comprising representatives from various airport service providers, to facilitate a smooth operational transition for the new terminal.
Officials from the Civil Aviation Authority, Immigration Department, Customs, airlines, and resorts serving the airport were all present at the meeting.
The new terminal is a crucial component of the Velana International Airport development project, which also encompasses a new Code-F runway, Noovilu Seaplane Terminal, a dedicated VIP Lounge building, a cargo terminal, a fuel farm, and a fire station.
