Lufthansa has announced the reduction of flight schedules by almost 50 percent, due to the recent exceptional circumstances caused by the spread of Coronavirus and the drastic decline in bookings as well as numerous flight cancellations.

The flight cancellations from 29th March to 24th April will be implemented successively in the booking systems, and Lufthansa Group passengers who are affected by a cancellation will be rebooked and notified.

A total of 23,000 flights is to be cancelled from all passenger airlines of Lufthansa. More cancellations will be carried out in the coming weeks.

Flights to mainland China have already been suspended previously until April 24, 2020. This affects flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenyang and Qingdao. Flights to Hong Kong will be reduced in March and April.

Lufthansa passengers planning a trip over the next few weeks are advised to check the status of the respective flight on lufthansa.com, swiss.com, austrian.com or brusselsairlines.com before embarking on their journey.
