MTCC reveals recent progress of Centara Three Island Reclamation Project

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) has revealed the current progress of the Centara Three Island Reclamation Project.

MTCC informs that they have completed 84% reclamation of the first island and 75% reclamation for the second island of Centara Three Islands Reclamation project. In addition, the construction of a groyne and revetment are ongoing to mitigate the effects of erosion for the first island.


In late 2019, a contract was signed between MTCC and Thailand hospitality management and holding company, Centara Hotels and Resorts to go through with reclamation works for three islands located in Kaafu Atoll.

The scope of work also includes shore protection works and the construction of a breakwater. The three island reclamation project is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

MTCC also recently announced that the construction of AA. Himandhoo harbour is nearing completion, with 94% project progress.

‪Current work involves construction of a breakwater with backfill; construction of a 3m width concrete jetty; revetment works and mooring buoy installation.

‪The harbor project, which was awarded in April 2019, is expected to be completed in April 2020.
