Team Maldives Claims the Title of Most Promising Talent at Asian Pastry Cup 2018

Team Maldives has claimed the recognition and title of the 'Most Promising Talent'  from the 12 countries which competed in The Asian Pastry Cup, the most important pastry competition in Asia.


 Two Maldivian pastry chefs, Chef Aminath Hameed from Conrad Maldives Rangali and Chef Ibrahim Fareed from Soneva Fushi Resort along with Chef Indra Kumar Limbu (Team Coach) from Hulhule Island Hotel represented the Team Maldives and contended for the first time at the Asian Pastry Cup which was held from 24th and 25th of April at the Singapore Expo coinciding with Food & Hotel Asia 2018 (FHA Singapore).


The Maldives competed alongside Asian culinary giants Australia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, China, India, Taiwan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Syria in an 8-hour long competition in which they had to prepare and present a chocolate showpiece, a sugar showpiece, 18 plated desserts and two chocolate pastries.


Team Maldives was adjudged the Most Promising Talent by a very eminent jury comprising the likes of the founder of the World Pastry Cup, Gabriel Paillasson.


The Asian Pastry Cup (APC) is the most spectacular and highly accredited competition in its category. It aims to promote pastry excellence and professionalism, and also serves as the official pre-selection platform for the World Pastry Cup 2019 in Lyon, France.


Since its inception in 2006, the APC has grown steadily in stature and prestige to become a significant platform for talented pastry professionals in Asia. Acclaimed by industry professionals, APC gives pastry chefs the opportunity to demonstrate their pastry skills, talent and creativity to a panel of experienced judges as well as to wow an enthusiastic audience.
