Ithaa Undersea Restaurant at Conrad Maldives Rangalhi Island has won the Best Underwater Hotel Restaurant in the World at World Travel Awards 2019 Grand Gala, held at Royal Opera House in Omani capital of Muscat on November 28.

Conrad Island Maldives was also nominated in the category for 'World's Leading Water Villa Resort'.

Conrad Maldives is world renowned for setting benchmarks in resort dining in the Maldives, being the first to create an undersea restaurant, Ithaa, the first to build an underground wine cellar, the first to establish a cheese bar, and the first authentic Chinese restaurant Ufaa, spearheaded by award-winning Chinese chef Jereme Leung.

The globally applauded Ithaa restaurant is the worlds first undersea restaurant, located five metres below the surface of the Indian Ocean offering 180° panoramic views of the vibrant coral gardens surrounding it. Ithaa, defined as mother of pearl in the Maldivian language of Dhivehi, is accented by the use of curved transparent acrylic walls, similar to those used in aquarium attractions.

The cuisine offers a true delight and features a distinctive menu showcasing local spices and produce, blended with Western influences, presented in a six-course set dinner menu and a four-course lunch menu featuring lighter fare.
