The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has participated in
the International Tourism and Travel Show in collaboration with the High
Commission of Sri Lanka in Ottawa. The event took place at the Place
Bonaventure in Montreal from 25th to 27th October 2019.
Participating for the fourth consecutive year in this show,
Sri Lankas High Commissioner to Canada Asoka Girihagama inaugurated the Sri
Lanka Pavilion which carried Sri Lanka tourisms new branding identity So Sri
Lanka introducing visuals showcasing tourist attractions which highlighted the
countrys unique cultural heritage, wildlife, beaches and landscapes.

Assistant Director and several other representatives of the travel industry
took part in the show which attracted 36,250 prospective travelers planning
their travel to new destinations and seeking expert advice on future holiday
destinations.
Tourism offices, tour operators and travel agents of more
than 100 countries were represented at the International Tourism and Travel
Show.
According to the Annual Statistical Report of the Sri Lanka
Tourism Development Authority, 52,681 Canadian tourists visited Sri Lanka in
2018, which is a 12% increase in tourist arrivals from Canada to Sri Lanka
compared to 2017. Sri Lankas participation in this years show is anticipated
to further enhance Sri Lankas tourism potential in the Canadian market.
