Maldives kicks off marketing activities in three main cities of China

 Maldives has kicked off a grand campaign in the three largest cities of China, the top visiting tourist market to the Maldives.

The campaign will promote Maldives in the cities, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai as the most desired tourist destination for the Chinese market.


During this major campaign, 2000 LED screens in Beijings biggest office buildings and five LED screens in Guangzhous five biggest shopping malls will display Maldives through videos advertisements. Moreover, the unique experiences for tourists in Maldives will be featured on seven LED screens in Shanghais busiest metro station used by over 150,000 passengers daily.

Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation (MMPRC) is set to participate in two travel trade fairs and will conduct two roadshows, digital media campaigns along with press and celebrity familiarization trips for the Chinese market this year.

Various activities were carried out in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu last year to promote Maldives including fairs, roadshows, familiarization trips along with digital media campaigns in Chinas biggest social media platforms, WeChat and Weibo.

A total of 284,372 arrivals from China were noted in 2019 making the Chinese market Maldives number one in terms of arrivals. Maldives had achieved the milestone of accommodating 1.7 million tourists during 2019. Ministry of Tourism and MMPRC is working to break the current record for the year 2020 with a goal of 2 million tourist arrivals.
