Musicians’ Union of Maldives (M.U.M) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Alliance Française for the general purpose of working together under a mutual understanding of beneficial relationship.

The MOU signed between the President of M.U.M, Ahmed Shiham and Director of Alliance Française de Male’, Dimitri Verge’ will be made effective beginning from March 2022 and will be valid for a period one (1) calendar year.

Under the MOU, M.U.M and Alliance Française will work together on music and cultural events that are relevant for both Parties. In addition, Alliance Française will offer French language courses and certifications for up to two (2) members of M.U.M per intake.

The next session is scheduled to begin on March 13, 2022. Members can join the introduction session free of charge. These introduction sessions are conducted for a term of two (2) months, twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6pm to 7.30pm).

Members can attend these classes physically or online. For physical classes, members would need to buy the course material (MVR 500 for the books covering the whole level). However, if members are joining online, the course material is optional.

Created in 2008, Alliance Française Male’ is the only official French Center in Maldives offering French courses and other specific programs focusing on French for Tourism and Business. The center also organizes cultural events such as movie nights and art exhibitions to promote French and Maldivian cultures.
