Marriott International has selected Brendan Corcoran as general manager of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, representing the debut of Westin Hotels & Resorts in the destination.

A combination of 70 superb overwater and island villas, the resort is an idyllic island paradise in the UNESCO listed Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve.

The resort takes inspiration from the "shape of the water," the marine life of the Atoll and the elements of water, sun and wind.

Corcorans industry experience spans over twenty years in a variety of leadership positions.

A graduate of the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Ireland, he embarked on his professional journey at the Hilton Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.

From there, his passion for embracing new opportunities and experiences saw him excel in positions with some of the worlds leading hospitality brands, including Marriott International, InterContinental Hotels Group, and Per Aquum Hotels & Resorts.

Prior to his appointment at The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, his role as general manager at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, Baa Atoll, Maldives saw him gain deep insights and knowledge of the region.

Situated in the uninhabited island of Miriandhoo in the central Baa Atoll, The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort will be accessible by a scenic 40-minute seaplane flight from the main Velana International Airport or a domestic flight to the airport on the nearby Dharavandhoo Island followed by a further 20-minute speedboat ride.
