Maldives Ministry of tourism issues statement on Thomas Cook insolvency

Maldives Government issue an statement assuring (UK) travelers and the travel industry that the necessary precautions have been put in place to minimize disruption as mus as possible to holiday makers traveling with Thomas Cook. The Maldives Ministry of Tourism and the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) will work closely together to provide the best possible support for these tourists on their return journey. 

The Maldives authorities have contacted all resorts partners to confirm the number of Thomas Cook travelers currently staying in the Maldives and to determine their return destination.  Velana International Airport is operating as usual ans measures have been put in place with the aim of easing the situation for holiday makers waiting to return home. Efforts will be make to provide food, assistance and accommodation if required. In this context, those affected are asked to approach the  designated service the staff on site. 

Statement from ALi Waheed, Maldives Minister of Tourism " the Government will do everything in its power to ensure the well-being of the passengers affected." 

Statement from Mr. Thoyyib Mohamed, Managing Director of MMPRC, "We are very sorry to hear of the closure of Thomas Cook and it is our top priority to ensure that the return journey of all affected tourists will be as comfortable as possible.
