MITDC Managing Director Mohamed Raaidh Delivers Lecture at Mardin Artukulu University in Turkey

Managing Director of MITDC Mohamed Raaidh has delivered a lecture on the Maldives tourism and environmental sensitivity to the students of Faculty of Tourism of Mardin Artuklu University. Mardin University is based in one the Turkey’s oldest and historical cities, Mardin.

The lecture was held at the university’s auditorium on November 3, 2022. 100 students from Faculty of Tourism participated in the lecture which was delivered on the topic “Maldives: A story of transformation into an international destination and the global warming threat”.

In Raaidh’s lecture, he highlighted on how tourism started with the brave effort of energetic and visionary youth group , how Maldives has spent 50 successful years of tourism and further looked in to the efforts of both private and public sector to develop a sustainable tourism in the country. In addition, he explained to the students the important and orderly work done in bringing Maldives tourism to the forefront of world tourism and the love and compassion of the people for this industry.

He further highlighted the crucial and strong policies of the government to protect the sensitive environment of the country as the islands are located at an altitude of one foot above sea level.

Mardin is an important city in the Islamic civilization in Mesopotamia. While Maldives is a 100% Islamic country, Raaidh explained how every Maldivian is making sacrifices to defend the country’s tourism position.

After the speech, a Q&A session was held.

Raaidh’s speech was attended by Mardin Artuklu university’s Dean Professor Dr. Serhat Harman and many lectures from the university’s tourism faculty.
