Maldives participates in FITUR 2020 - The biggest international tourism fair in Spain

Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) together with industry partners exhibits at the biggest International Tourism Fair FITUR held in Madrid, Spain from 22nd to 26th of January 2020.

MMPRC will be exhibiting in a 71.5sqm stand showcasing the beauty of the destination. 24 companies with 41 representatives will be representing their products at the Maldives stand. During the 5-day fair they will be meeting with top travel trade tourism professionals to further strengthen the market performance to the Maldives.

Maldives stand will be located at Hall 6 designated for Asia and the Pacific countries. At the Maldives stand 6D08 different activities will be carried out to interact with the visitors, such as participating at quiz sessions about the Maldives to win free gifts. In addition to this, the visitors will be able to taste the local snacks like the famous "Addu Bondi", "Thelluli banbukeyo" as well as "Kulhi Roshi". To further strengthen the destination presence at the fair, videos of different segments will be showcased on the led screen at the stand.

This year, the destination will be showcased through an eye-catching outdoor video ad with the Maldives stand number, at the Southern entrance of the fair. This is a prominent location and is expected to increase the visitors to the stand.

FITUR is the global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound markets in Latin America. Looking at the visitor statistics to FITUR past years it has recorded 10,487 companies from 165 countries and regions, 142,642 trade visitors and 110,848 visitors from the general public.

Spanish market has been a promising market for the Maldives over the years. Observing the Spanish arrivals to the Maldives, by the end of 2019 a total of 36,064 arrivals were recorded from the market which is an increase of 13.5 percent compared to the previous years. Several initiatives will be taken by MMPRC to further increase the destination presence in Spain for the year 2020.
