QTM Hosts Webinar Titled “Maldives Tourism’s Recovery Initiatives”

The QTM webinar which took place on October 5 was participated by Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Managing Director of state-owned tourism promotions company, MMPRC Thoyyib Mohamed, President of National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM) Ahmed Afrah, Vice President of Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators (MATATO) Abdulla Ghiyas and Director of Sales & Marketing of Villa Hotels Murad Hassan. 

During the Webinar, Minister Dr. Mausoom updated participants on Health & Safety for tourists with Maldives reopening its border to the world. Since the reopening, the tourism industry has shown promise with its recovery as Maldives welcomed 18,867 tourist arrivals after border reopening on July 15.  

Dr. Mausoom also mentioned that he will be announcing insurance arrangements in a week’s time. The whole industry has been patiently waiting for such arrangements.  

Ministry of Tourism revealed on Saturday that Maldives has recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals on a single day with over 1000 inbound tourists on October 2. The new record has further increased the hope for the swift recovery of our tourism industry, says the Ministry.
