Managing Director of MITDC, Mohamed Raaidh to Speak at the Virtual Island Summit 2021

Managing Director of Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has been selected on one of the speakers at the Virtual Island Summit 2021. ‘Sharing knowledge for resilient, sustainable, and prosperous islands worldwide,’ the Virtual Island Summit will be held from September 6-12, 2021.  

According to an article published by World Tourism Network, with his appointment as Managing Director of MITDC, Mohamed Raaidh was tasked with the “primary goal of contributing to the economic growth of the nation by expanding possible avenues of the tourism sector through the systematic and planned development of integrated tourism in this industry.” 

The virtual event will provide opportunities for interaction with field experts and sessions will be held to share viewpoints of speakers from various island communities including the Arctic, Caribbean, Europe, Indian Ocean, Pacific Islands, South America and more.  

The summit will further cover all 17 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in addition to discussion of crucial topics related to island communities and development as well as joint efforts in working together with NGO’s and other relevant bodies.  

Over 10,000 people including policymakers, entrepreneurs, academics, and NGO leaders are expected to join the summit, organized by Island Innovation.
