Angsana Velavaru Joins in on the Maldives Clean Up Initiative

The Ministry of Environment announced a national program to remove litter across of the Maldives which simultaneously took place today from 07:30 - 10:30 in all regions of Maldives.

The initiative which was named 'Saafu Raajje, Aharenge ves zimma' that translates to Clean Maldives, my responsibility too,' was officially inaugurated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. 



The team at Angsana Velavaru supported the initiative of the Ministry of Environment and joined the first Nationwide Clean Up Day. With the support from islanders from Meedhoo Island, the resorts team collected more than half a ton of plastic waste.

"By allocating a team of Marine Biologists & CSR Ambassadors at Angsana, we strive to educate our guests & team members to protect and nourish the local environments of our resorts worldwide." Sated Mr. Mario Piazza, the General Manager of Angsana Vealvaru.



CSR Ambassador Mr. Nick Hardman stated that the CSR committee and the Marine Lab at Angsana Velavaru are working closely together with the local community to combat environmental waste and pollution. 

Recently, the resorts team travelled to the neighbouring island of Bandidhoo. Twenty-one students and two teachers from Bandidhoo school along with island councillors helped the associates remove 212 kg of plastic waste from different parts of the island, while Nick and Mario gave a presentation to inspire the local community to take action on plastic pollution.



In addition, Angsana Velavaru also donated Smart TV to the local school in the neighbouring island of Maaenboodhoo as part of the resorts CSR programme. The donation was aimed to help reduce paper consumption and waste. 

Furthermore, the team packed 300 lunch boxes and alongside the famous Swedish blogger, Ms. Lisa Telbe to mark World Food Day on 16th  Oct 2018 and paid a visit to Meedhoo Elementary school. 



Angsana Velavaru boasts classy accommodation with a strong Asian feel.
