Ooredoo Maldives Donates Three Sea Ambulances to the Government of Maldives

Ooredoo Maldives has donated three more sea ambulances to the countrys existing sea ambulance fleet, which operates from across the country and plays a vital role in delivering health care to people living throughout the highly dispersed islands.


A ceremony was held today near the Izzuddeen Jetty, where two of the three sea ambulances were showcased and received on behalf of the government by the Health Ministry. As the third sea ambulance is yet to arrive in the country, Ooredoo revealed that the third one would also be donated soon. 


While speaking at the ceremony, the CEO and Executive Director of Ooredoo Maldives, Najib Khan, said that Ooredoo Maldives have started on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, so the ambulances donated today as part of the effort to reach the third goal in the development of improving health services. 


He also mentioned that the company has also decided to start a program by the name Ooredoo Mobile Health Clinics which will travel to the islands and provide free treatment.


The new donated sea ambulances consist of a modern design with a capacity of 12 people and a bed for the patient. They are also equipped with the latest navigation equipment and the space for two oxygen cylinders. 


The Health Minister, Nazim Ibrahim also spoke at the ceremony, revealing that the donation made by  Ooredoo is going to strengthen the sea ambulance fleet in the country. Minister Nazim said that sea ambulances are an essential resource of the Maldivian health care.
