Ministry of Tourism Discusses Importance of Industry Staff Training with NBAM and GAM

The Ministry of Tourism, has met with the National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM) and the Guesthouse Association of Maldives (GAM) today, in order to discuss training requirements for the industry.

During the meeting held via Zoom, on June 28, 2021, NBAM shared stats regarding a survey done on 2020. The statistics showed that amongst the 23 boats the survey was handed out to, each boat stated that there has been a difficulty in finding Maldivian staff for a wide range of jobs. Additionally, NBAM had updated the ministry on some of the affairs carried out last year, such as, MNU courses that took place.

Furthermore, GAM had emphasized the importance of short courses and the significance of handing out valid certificates to the candidates who take part in the training courses. All parties had accepted that this matter is quite important.

The Ministry of Tourism assured their full support in this matter and concluded the meeting with all parties looking forward to a follow-up meeting to discuss this topic.
