Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) revealed that Maldives has been nominated for the following seven categories in the World Travel Awards:

i.   Leading Destination
  ii.   Leading Beach Destination
iii.   Leading Honeymoon Destination
iv.   Leading Dive Destination
v. Leading Cruise Destination
vi.   Leading Green Destination
  vii.   Leading Tourist Board

Ever since the first ever event in 1993, the World Travel Awards has been held every year. While the island nation has been nominated for multiple awards this year, Maldives has already won several prestigious awards in the past. In addition to the awards won by the destination itself, the awards won by local resorts also provide the opportunity to further develop the tourism of Maldives.
