Taj Burrow has made history by becoming the first-ever three-time winner of the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy. The Australian surfer clinched his latest title after a thrilling final against South Africa’s Mikey February, rounding off three days of competition in the event's best waves to date.

Despite finishing as the runner-up in all three divisions and enduring ten heats, Burrow strategically conserved his energy on the final day. His tactical wave selection resulted in six excellent scores, demonstrating that quality surpassed quantity.

The event began with grey skies but improved to perfect conditions at Sultans lineup. Jeremy Flores made a strong comeback in the twin fin division, scoring an 8.33 and a 7.17 to win over Burrow and local wildcard Ahmed “Ammaday” Agil. In the second heat, Jadson Andre excelled with an 8.33 and a 7.83, advancing alongside February.

In the semi-finals, Flores outperformed February with scores of 8.67 and 9.10, moving on to the final. Burrow dominated his semi-final against Andre, opening with a 9.67 and earning a perfect 10 for a deep tube ride, securing his spot in the final.

The grand final was a close battle between Burrow and Flores. Burrow’s consistent high scores, including a 9.77 for a deep tube, helped him secure the victory despite February’s late efforts. Burrow's total of 18.13 narrowly edged out February’s 17.77, securing his historic third title.

Reflecting on his win, Burrow praised February’s performance and credited his success to strategic surfing and favorable conditions. “It was a really fast, perfect cylinder,” Burrow said of his final perfect 10.
