The Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy is set to make waves once again in September 2025 at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa. Celebrated as one of the world’s most luxurious surf events, the 13th edition will see top surf talent compete for USD 25,000, a coveted spot in the Hall of Fame, and the prestigious trophy itself. The event has previously featured legends like Kelly Slater and Taj Burrow.

The first confirmed competitor for this year is Australian free-surfing icon Craig Anderson, setting an exciting tone for the event. “I’m so stoked I got the call-up,” said Anderson, who last visited the Maldives on his honeymoon. Known for his smooth style and creativity on alternate boards, Anderson is a natural fit for the competition’s unique format, which features single fin, twin fin, and thruster board divisions.

More than just a surf contest, the Surfing Champions Trophy celebrates both talent and the tropical charm of Kuda Huraa. Competitors and their families enjoy exclusive resort experiences, from lagoon learning sessions and island excursions to luxury dining and spa treatments. The event’s setting near the iconic right-hand break at Sultans ensures ideal wave conditions throughout.

Each round of the competition builds up to a Grand Final, where surfers can choose their board of preference. Last year, fans witnessed a thrilling twin-fin showdown between Taj Burrow and Mikey February, with Burrow clinching his third title. Guests staying at the resort during the event enjoy premium access aboard luxury surf vessels stationed at the contest site.

In addition to the main event, surf enthusiasts can book the “Surf’s Up” package, which includes four days of expert coaching, guided surf sessions, yoga, post-surf massages, and more. The package is available for stays until December 20, 2025, with a minimum four-night booking. The full competitor lineup, including four international names and a Maldivian wildcard, will be announced soon.
