The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has donated MVR 100,000 to the Cancer Society of Maldives (CSM) to support the development of a cancer screening application and database. This contribution aims to enhance the management and maintenance of the data collected by the Cancer Society of Maldives.

In a special ceremony held at the MACL Corporate Office, Managing Director and CEO of MACL, Mr. Mahjoob Shujau, handed over the donation cheque to Mrs. Neena Mansoor, treasure of the Cancer Society of Maldives.

As part of MACL's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, this donation seeks to contribute to the cancer screening programs conducted by CSM. It exemplifies MACL's commitment to helping the community and underscores the company's strong determination to contribute to the advancement of the country's health sector.

Currently, all cancer screenings are conducted using physical forms, and data is managed manually. The development of the new application will revolutionize the process, enabling efficient and confidential screenings while maintaining a coherent and up-to-date set of records for effective follow-ups and aftercare of patients. The screening application will provide a paperless approach to conducting screening programs, allowing for real-time analysis and providing a vast amount of information for studies and research purposes.

The Cancer Society of Maldives has already screened over 20,900 people for various types of cancer, including breast cancer, oral cancer, and cervical cancer. This year, the society is introducing prostate and colorectal cancer screening to expand its services and reach a wider population.

MACL's donation to the Cancer Society of Maldives will significantly contribute to the society's efforts in raising awareness, providing screenings, and improving the overall management of cancer-related data. Together, we aim to create a positive impact and foster advancements in the healthcare sector of the Maldives.
