President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurates ‘Faruma International Youth Art Festival 2023’, the first ever international art festival to be hosted in the Maldives.

Featuring creations of 80 artists and artisans from 8 countries, the festival being held at Social Center, Male’, is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, organized in collaboration with the Maldivian Artist Community.

Maldivian Artist Community-MAC is a non-government organization incorporated in January 2016 with the aim of providing a platform for all the emerging artists to display their individual skills and to inspire those who seek opportunities as an artist.

Speaking at the event, President Solih expressed gratification over the participation of local talent in the festival, stating their contribution being key for national development, resonating with the commitment of this administration towards building a skillfully productive workforce in Maldives. The President also took this opportunity to appreciate the countless creative contributions of past artists and artisans that is reflected in the rich history of this nation.

Faruma International Youth Art Festival 2023 opened to much fanfare on May 8, 2023, and is to wrap-up on May 13, 2023.
