The beautiful island nation where life is always sunny,
Maldives, was represented at the 7th edition of Worldmaster
International Travel Mart (WITM) in the Philippines, by Maldives Association of
Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO). The 7th edition of this
exclusive B2B event took place in Manila and Cebu from the 1st-3rd
of April, and specialized in catering for hoteliers.
In a statement issued by MATATO read, "Destination marketing
events participated by MATATO in the global market are handpicked from emerging
markets that has potential for local agents and hoteliers to exploit."
This edition of the WITM Philippines recorded over 400
exhibitors, and have been designed to showcase competitive buyers who are keen
on promoting inbound and outbound travel services. The exhibitors were also
eager to discover new travel innovations and extend partnerships towards the
best of travel industry experts from all around the globe.
Filipinos are said to have made over 5.1 million trips out
of their country, to at least 42 destinations in the past year, 2018. These figures
are only based around leisure purposes, and it would definitely be a higher
number if one were to consider departures for working purposes as well.
In addition to WITM Philippines, Maldives has been
represented in multiples travel events all around the world in the first few
months of 2019, such as; Riyadh
Travel Fair 2019 in Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam International Travel Mart
(VITM) in Vietnam.
