Dr. Anoma Jayasinghe of Sri Lankan Airline becomes first Lankan IAASM member

Dr. Anoma Jayasinghe, Group Medical officer of Sri Lankan Airlines, working in the field of Aviation medicine for over a decade has become the first Sri Lankan to be selected as a member of the International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine (IAASM), in recognition of her contribution.

In the area of medicine, Aviation and Space Medicine are fields in which the maintenance of health, safety and the performance of those involved in aviation and space activity are deeply concerned. IAASM founded in 1955, has a limited membership of approximately 240 medical professionals from around the world.

Since joining Sri Lankan Airlines in 2002, Dr. Jayasinghe is to become the academician of IAASM.

Dr. Jayasinghe is a member of the Medical Board of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) in addition to serving as a Medical Examiner. she is a full member of the Australian Society of Aerospace Medicine as well as a member of the Aerospace Medical Association USA (AsMA). Furthermore, Dr. Jayasinghe fills the role of a designated Aviation Medical Examiner of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Australia (CASA).

Besides the positions mentioned above, Dr. Jayasinghe is an active member for the project CAPSCA (Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation) and acts in the capacity of a technical advisor. The project is affiliated with IATA and ICAO.
