Marketing activities commence in Italy to promote Maldives

Maldives Marketing & Public Relation Corporation (MMPRC) has launched an outdoor brand visibility campaign in Italy to promote Maldives. MMPRC will promote Maldives as one of the most desirable destinations for the Italian market. 

Marketing activities include 350 screens in fourteen different airports in Italy, displaying the beauty of Maldives through video advertisements and a well-known travel agency in Italy, Alpitour will also display Maldives through 2000 agency office window displays scattered across the country. Alpitour cater the highest number of tourists to Maldives from the Italian market.

Milan, the second largest city of Italy and most frequented by tourists and locals will showcase pictures of unique experiences of the Maldives on tram, travelling across the city for a duration of three months, visiting the most well-known tourist attractions in Milan. 

This year, more marketing campaigns is set to commence focusing on Europe. "In this regard, MMPRC will participate in two major tourism fairs, and organize press, influencer and celebrity familiarization trips along with joint campaigns with travel agencies including online campaigns and outdoor campaigns."

Italy is the oldest and one of the most important source markets to Maldives tourism. By the end of 2019, a total of 136,343 tourists from Italy visited the Maldives which is an increase of 29.5 per cent compared to 2018. Italy is ranked as the third largest market to the Maldives in terms of arrivals.
