Fushifaru Maldives revives tradition with Coconut Tree Climbing Competition

Fushifaru Maldives has hosted Lhaviyani atolls first ever Coconut Tree Climbing competition on last Friday, 28th February 2020.

With contestants from all around the atoll, including Innahura Maldives Resort, COCOON Maldives, Kanuhura Maldives, Hurawalhi Maldives, Kudadoo Maldives Private Island and Fushifaru Maldives, the event, endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism and sponsored by Dhiraagu was a huge success and brought everyone together to celebrate the Maldivian culture.


The participants of the contest were asked to climb the coconut palm tree all the way to the top, come down safely and husk a coconut all under the given time limit.  Fushifarus very own Maldivian Coconut Climber, Thoha, took away the winners trophy as he completed his round in only 42 seconds.

The top winner received an Apple iPad, latest AirPods, a wireless charger and a power bank from Dhiraagu, while the second and third place won a stay at Fushifaru Maldives.


With speeches from Fushifarus General Manager, Ahmed Siaar, and the Guest Speaker, the Senior Policy Director from the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Ibrahim Farhad, this unique and special event was a huge success.

Fushifaru Maldives stated, "A big thank you to our fantastic participants and supporters for helping to make this event such a success we cant wait to celebrate this event next year!"
