Maldivian brings in 5,000kg of medical supplies from Dubai

National airline, Maldivian arrived at Velana International Airport last night with 5,000kg of medical supplies from Dubai.

 

The mostly medical supplies were brought from Dubai as part of the airlines ongoing efforts to import cargo and necessary medicines from various cities across the world including Trivandrum and Chennai of India, Thailand and Dubai with additional destinations to aid in transporting essential supplies and goods during this global pandemic, COVID-19.

 

Maldivian cargo freighter has previously brought in various supplies from Bangkok, Thailand and Dubai while prior to that, the airline had delivered 10 tonnes of cargo from Sri Lanka.

 

In view of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, currently, Male City has been put under a lockdown period of 14 days, while initially a 24hour lockdown was implemented with the first discovery of a local case tested positive for COVID-19 in Capital Male.

 

Maldivian had announced the halt of all domestic operations not long after the implementation of the 24hour lockdown. The airline will be continuing its domestic operation with the lift of the lockdown after 14 days.
