The planned bridge connecting Hithadhoo and Hulhudhoo-Meedhoo in Addu City has moved into its preliminary design and survey phase. This progress follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the initial work required for the project.

The signing ceremony, attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, took place during his ongoing visit to the southern cities of Addu City, Huvadhoo, and Fuvamulah City. President Muizzu highlighted the project’s importance and confirmed that grants would cover the costs of the design and feasibility studies. He expressed his expectation that the construction phase of the bridge would commence within the current year and be completed within the next four years.

The Arab Contractors company has been selected to carry out the preliminary design and survey work for the bridge project. Dr Abdulla Muttalib, Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, signed the MoU on behalf of the Maldivian Government, with Board Member Heba Abu AlEla representing The Arab Contractors.
