Lands to be leased in Addu for Guesthouses and City Hotels

Tourism Ministry has announced that lands are to be leased in Addu for the purpose of building Guesthouses and City Hotels.

Regarding the lands to be leased next month in Addu, Tourism Minister, Ali Waheed stated as per the wishes of President Mohamed Solih to promote "Local Tourism", an agreement has been made between the Addu City Council and the Ministry.

He further expressed that the city council will work to meet the expectations of the people of Addu to accommodate 4,000 beds in the soon to be built guesthouses and hotels.

The President had previously announced the promotion of guesthouses in 11 islands at the ceremony held to unveil the Tourism Master Plan which took place last July 29. Six islands of Addu are included in the master plan.

According to Abdulla Sodiq Mayor of Addu City, details of the lands to be leased in Addu will be announced to the public next month as what was agreed between the Council and the Ministry. Choosing of investors interested in the investment of the lands will be carried in discussion with the locals. Tourism is likely to spread widely in the South if this was concluded successfully.

"when the details are to be announced, concepts to promote the areas will be final and work will be done on the landscapes and beach." Said Abdulla Sodiq, Mayor of Addu City.

To built guesthouses, an area of 5,000sqf will be leased while a square-feet of 10,000 will be leased for the use of city hotels. Additionally, Sodiq revealed that the total number of the lands leased will be known after the investments and the final concepts.
